Dr. William (Bill) Battle is an Industrial-Organizational Psychologist, leadership coach, and management consultant based in New York City. His goal is to leverage his skills, knowledge, and drive for world-class organizations to directly impact their bottom lines and to foster the growth of their leaders and their teams. Currently, he focuses on assessment, feedback delivery, and executive coaching, frequently through his participation in assessment centers.

Dr. Battle’s clients and projects encompass a wide range: From Fortune 500 companies to small start-ups; from public to private to governmental entities; from organization-wide initiatives to 1-on-1 coaching, and across technology, finance, healthcare, education, consulting, and manufacturing fields. Recently, he has concentrated his practice on the technology and financial services industries.

Dr. Battle’s coaching process focuses on changing individual behavior in a measurable way that leads to concrete workplace outcomes. To create a personalized development plan, Dr. Battle gathers a variety of information about his clients, through behavioral interviews, 3600 surveys, and style and personality measures. He then works jointly with clients to set growth targets and developmental goals, and strategies for how to achieve them.

On a group level, Dr. Battle delivers workshops which look to grow overall levels of skill, and a shared appreciation and use of these techniques within a team or spanning a company. Because talent development is so critical to an organization’s success, his workshops often address how leaders at all levels can embed collaborative people management across the culture, especially in terms of how to give feedback and improve receptivity to it, along with how to coach for enhanced performance.

Dr. Battle teaches in the Master’s Psychology Program at New York University and frequently serves as both a thesis advisor and a mentor. His classes include Psychology of Decision Making, Psychology of Negotiation, and Organization Development. He also teaches Psychology of Training in Taipei and Singapore.

As a coach, Bill works with the top executives of a wide range of organizations:  Aon, Bank of America, Cisco, Columbia Business School, Credit Suisse, Darden, Elkay, FBI, Hampton Inn, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, The Medicines Company, Merrill Lynch, Microsoft, Morgan Stanley, New York Presbyterian Hospital, The Port Authority of NY & NJ, and Verizon.

Bill received his BA from George Washington University and his MA & Ph.D. in I-O Psychology at New York University. His dissertation, “Women’s Inhibition of Self-Advocacy: Avoiding the Consequences of Gender Deviance,” focused on assertiveness in women at work and how they can successfully negotiate for better outcomes. Bill was awarded a McCracken fellowship to attend NYU.
