Learning Library: Essentials of Behaviorally-based Interviewing
The behavioral event interviewing (BEI) or behaviorally-based technique follows the philosophy that past behavior is the best predictor of future performance. Participants will learn how to convert cultural norms, interpersonal skills and functional/ technical competencies into powerful questions that get to the heart of a person’s values, attitudes and abilities. Participants will learn how to assess responses for true evidence of these desired attributes. Becoming skilled in BEI can reduce the risk of making regrettable hiring decisions and increase the number of strong hires because it allows interviewers to gain deeper insights into what makes a candidate tick.
